Full and part house refurbishment

Full house and part house refurbishments, finished to high-end standards. CAP takes a property back as far as it needs to go, re-plans it, renews the structure and the services and refinishes it, with one team responsible from the first survey to the final coat.

Questions

Asked and answered.

Do I need to move out during a refurbishment?

For a full refurbishment, usually yes. Once floors are up and services are off, the house is neither practical nor safe to live in. Part refurbishments can often be phased so that you stay in part of the property.

Does refurbishment need building regulations approval?

Much of it does. Structural alterations, rewiring, new heating, replacement windows and changes to drainage or insulation are all controlled work. We deal with building control so each stage is inspected and you receive the completion certificate.

Can a refurbishment be combined with an extension or a loft?

Yes, and it is usually the most economical way to do both. At our Arundel project in South Woodford, the full house refurbishment, a double storey extension and a new loft were built together.

Do you refurbish period properties?

Yes. Period houses make up much of London's prime housing, and we refurbish them with attention to original features such as cornicing, sash windows and staircases. Listed buildings need consent, which is covered by our heritage service.

Do you refurbish commercial buildings as well?

Yes. At Weston Manor Hotel we refurbished 14 rooms, the communal areas and the plant rooms. Commercial work is planned around how the building trades.
