Builders and renovators in Oxfordshire.

Oxfordshire is where we refurbished Weston Manor Hotel, a Grade II* listed property: 14 rooms, the communal areas, the listed gardens and the roof. CAP designs and builds extensions, lofts, basements and full refurbishments across Oxfordshire, with one team from planning through to aftercare.

Building in Oxfordshire

What a project in Oxfordshire usually involves.

Oxfordshire has a large stock of listed buildings and stone villages in conservation areas, so heritage consent is often the first question on a project.

The properties we are asked about in Oxfordshire are mostly listed houses, hotels and country properties built in stone. Around Weston-on-the-Green, Bicester and the Cotswold edge, the character of the setting shapes what can be built, and we design to suit it.

Planning applications in Oxfordshire are decided by the district councils, including Cherwell, West Oxfordshire, South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse, and Oxford City Council. Whatever the project, we check which consents your property needs before recommending any spend on drawings.

Questions

Building in Oxfordshire.

Do you work in Oxfordshire?

Yes. Oxfordshire is where we refurbished Weston Manor Hotel, a Grade II* listed property: 14 rooms, the communal areas, the listed gardens and the roof. The middle of the county is roughly 56 miles from our base on Mitcham Lane in Streatham, and the work we take on there is mostly listed houses, hotels and country properties built in stone.

Do I need planning permission to extend or alter a property in Oxfordshire?

For a listed building, yes, and usually listed building consent as well. Oxfordshire has a large number of listed properties and conservation areas, and parts of the county fall within the Cotswolds and Chilterns National Landscapes and the Oxford Green Belt. At Weston Manor we obtained consents from the local authority and Historic England before work began.

Which council decides planning applications in Oxfordshire?

The district councils, including Cherwell, West Oxfordshire, South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse, and Oxford City Council. Building regulations approval can come from the council's building control team or from a registered building control approver, and we arrange whichever suits the project.

What kind of properties do you work on in Oxfordshire?

Mostly listed houses, hotels and country properties built in stone. Around Weston-on-the-Green, Bicester and the Cotswold edge, the character of the setting shapes what can be built, so we look at the property and its surroundings before proposing a design.

Have you completed a project near Oxfordshire?

Yes. Weston Manor Hotel is our project in Oxfordshire: plan, design and refurbish 14 hotel rooms, the communal areas, the plant rooms, the external listed gardens and the roof of a five star, Grade II* listed hotel, in line with heritage guidance. The hotel is now part of the Michelin Guide hotel selection. The project page has the full scope and the photographs.

Do you cover the areas around Oxfordshire?

Yes. Close to Oxfordshire we also work in Harrow, Richmond and Hampstead, and we take on larger heritage and commercial projects further afield by arrangement.
